JAM Camp Mission Staff, LaVerne Griffin Camp Summer Missions Staff

LGC hosts a creative arts and worship camp for teens aged middle-school through high school. The purpose of the camp is provide hands on instruction and encouragement in areas where students may then be able to contribute to their home church in the pursuit of effective worship ministry and other creative aspects of Christian Service. The camp culminates in a worship service on the final evening where the students share what they have experienced over the week by actually using the skills they’ve worked on. Families are invited to attend and it is the highlight of the week. We often have the chance to share the Gospel with entire families who are otherwise un-churched.

The training is accomplished by utilizing adults with expertise in these different areas who are also motivated to work with teens. These adults will craft their own “curriculum” for various tracks.

We are also in need of someone who will take charge of the “choir” track, which we encourage all campers to participate in. This person will select music to teach the campers in anticipation of performance at Family Night. Experience with youth/choral music a must and prefer ability to play parts, as needed for the rehearsal time. We may have people on-hand who can play accompaniment for performance, performance tracks also encouraged.

The camp day is structured as follows:  Morning – community “wake-up” chapel time and friendly team competition; Family times for Bible lessons.  Afternoon – breakouts into interest areas which the students have signed up for ahead of time; ample free-time with games, swimming, boating/fishing, and relaxation.  Evenings – Family times and evening Chapel: evening free-time

Core offerings will include: Worship leading, guitar for worship, piano chording for worship teams, sound equipment operation for live environments.  We would also like to include: * are priorities, Video production (live and/or filming and editing), Presentation software use (Pro Presenter, etc.), Visual arts (drawing, painting, sculpting, wood carving, still photography, creative writing).  Other teaching tracks may be possible depending on staff ability and expertise. This is the information from our website:
